A Children's Book:
The Tale of Silly Seal

The issue of the use of The Children's Pool in La Jolla has become a heated topic. In some cases, there have been verbal attacks, slanderous statements and even lawsuits between those who believe the beach should be reserved for the seals and those who wish to follow and enforce the guidelines of the State of California Tidelands Grant in 1931.

Advocates of trying to reserve the beach for the harbor seals claim that those who are for keeping the beach as originally intended by the Ellen Browning Scripps trust are interested in "destroying the seal colony," "seal killers" or simply not concerned with the state of the environment. This could not be further from the truth. Most proponets of keeping The Children's Pool within the boundaries of the trust are ocean enthusiasts that believe that balance is key to preserving the California coast and wildlife.

Under construction.
